Police: Suspect Apprehended After Fatal St. Croix Service Station Shooting

ST. CROIX — A suspect was apprehended at the scene of a fatal shooting Friday evening near the WMJR Service Station in Sion Farm, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
VIPD said the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received a ShotSpotter notification at about 7:07 p.m. Friday, June 26, along with multiple calls reporting gunfire in the area.
Police, Emergency Medical Services and other emergency personnel responded and found an unresponsive adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.
The victim was identified by next of kin as Pedro Melendez Sanes, 50.
VIPD said the suspect in the shooting was apprehended at the scene. The department said the case remains under active investigation.
