Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Sion Farm Service Station Shooting

A 48-year-old St. Croix man was arrested after a Friday night shooting at a service station near Sion Farm left one man dead, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
VIPD said the 911 Emergency Call Center received a ShotSpotter notification and several calls about shots fired and a gunshot victim at WMJR Service Gas Station at about 7:07 p.m. Friday, June 26.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. Police said the victim was identified by next of kin as Pedro Melendez Sanes, 50.
Police identified the suspect as Brian Schooler, 48, whom VIPD described as a licensed firearm owner. Schooler was transported to the Criminal Investigation Bureau office, arrested and processed, according to the department.
VIPD said Schooler faces charges including first-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and discharging or aiming a firearm. Police said he was unable to post $1 million bail and was remanded to the John A. Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending an advice-of-rights hearing in Superior Court on Monday, June 29.
