VIPD Officer Eustace Charles Fatally Shot in Williams Delight

ST. CROIX — Virgin Islands Police Department Executive Security Officer Eustace Charles was fatally shot early Sunday in Williams Delight, according to the department.
VIPD said its 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of shots fired at about 5:50 a.m. July 26. Responding officers found an unresponsive man in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical technicians determined the man had no vital signs, police said. He was identified as Charles, 51, who was assigned to the Executive Security Unit.
Police Commissioner Mario Brooks offered condolences to Charles’ family, friends and colleagues and said the department would use all available resources to locate the person responsible.
