Tim Curry, ‘Rocky Horror’ actor, dies at 80

Tim Curry, the actor whose voice and precision made a mark on cult films, mainstream movies and the stage, has died at 80, according to The Associated Press.
Curry was best known to many viewers as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a role he had played onstage before the 1975 film turned midnight screenings into a long-running ritual. He brought the same theatrical snap to very different parts, including Wadsworth in Clue, the concierge in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and Pennywise in the 1990 television adaptation of Stephen King’s It.
The Associated Press described Curry as an actor who moved between stage work, film, television and voice acting. His career had room for broad comedy and menace, sometimes in the same raised eyebrow.
For generations of Rocky Horror fans, Curry’s performance remained the center of the room: funny, unsettling and completely in control. The audience participation may have changed with the years, but the timing of his performance never did.
