VIFEMS Makes Progress in Fighting Bovoni Landfill Fire, Suspends Operations for the Night

Virgin Islands Fire and Emergency Medical Services (VIFEMS) have made significant progress in containing the Bovoni Landfill fire, with 75% of the vegetation debris pile extinguished. Advanced suppression methods have also been used to reduce underground hot spots. While there is a temporary suspension of suppression activities, response teams and equipment remain on-site, and full operations will resume tomorrow morning. The community’s impact has been minimized due to the relentless efforts of firefighters.
