Eric André and Clayton English settle Atlanta airport search lawsuit

Comedians Eric André and Clayton English have settled their lawsuit over a drug-search program at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, according to The Associated Press.
The lawsuit, filed in 2022, accused Clayton County police of racially profiling and unlawfully stopping the two performers during separate airport encounters. The settlement does not include an admission of fault or liability.
Under the agreement, the county says the program has ended and will not be restarted. Officers assigned to the airport will be required to wear body cameras and receive training on the constitutional limits of airport encounters, AP reported.
County commissioners authorized a $30,000 payment, split equally between André and English, in an Aug. 4 meeting. A county spokesperson did not immediately respond to AP’s request for comment Tuesday.
