Eurovision considers online-only voting to curb coordinated campaigns

The European Broadcasting Union is exploring a move to fully online audience voting at Eurovision, according to BBC News. The proposal is intended to limit the influence of organized voting drives.
Under the current system, viewers can vote up to 10 times by phone, text message or online. The approach described by the BBC would instead ask each voter to choose several favorites, with the EBU’s letter suggesting three, rather than placing repeated votes for one act.
The EBU told BBC News that it had begun investigating fully online audience voting and would announce further details in the months ahead. No final format or start date has been confirmed.
The issue has followed years of scrutiny over political voting in the contest. The BBC reported that the cap was cut from 20 to 10 votes for 2026 after questions about coordinated voting in the previous year’s competition.
The EBU has not announced when any change could take effect.
