Governor Albert Bryan Jr. has nominated Joel Lee to serve as Chairman and CEO of the Virgin Islands Casino Control Commission, replacing outgoing Chairman Marvin Pickering, who is retiring from public service. Lee currently serves as Director of the Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue, where he oversees the territory’s primary tax collection agency and provides financial guidance to executive branch agencies and the Legislature.
“Joel Lee is a serious professional, a respected financial leader, and a public servant who understands the importance of accountability, sound oversight, and public trust,” Governor Bryan said. “I am confident he is prepared to lead the Casino Control Commission with integrity and competence.”
Lee is a certified public accountant with a career spanning both government and private practice. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bucknell University and a Master of Accountancy from the University of the Virgin Islands. Before leading the BIR, he operated his own CPA firm and held senior financial management roles in the private sector. His nomination will be submitted to the Legislature for advice and consent.
