Hayden Panettiere, the actor whose work stretched from childhood roles to the television hits Heroes and Nashville, has died at 36.

Police said Panettiere was found unresponsive at an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina, shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to The Associated Press. Authorities said the death remains under investigation; an autopsy found no signs of trauma, and police said they saw no signs of foul play. A cause of death has not been determined.

Panettiere began acting as a child and became widely known in 2006 as Claire Bennet, the cheerleader with an extraordinary ability at the center of Heroes. She later played Juliette Barnes on Nashville, singing on the series and earning two Golden Globe supporting-actress nominations for the role, AP reported.

Her film credits included Remember the Titans, Bring It On: All or Nothing and Scream VI. In recent years, Panettiere had spoken publicly about depression, postpartum depression and addiction, including in her memoir This Is Me, released in May.

Panettiere’s father, Skip, announced her death in a statement provided to ABC News. A publicist did not give AP further details.
