Madonna tops 2026 VMAs nominations with 11

Madonna leads the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards nominations with 11, according to Variety’s Aug. 18 report. Taylor Swift follows with nine nominations, while Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter have seven each.
The awards are scheduled for Sept. 27 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. CBS, MTV and Paramount+ will carry the two-hour show live, and fan voting is open in 13 categories through Sept. 25 at vote.mtv.com, Variety reported. Best new artist voting remains open through the broadcast.
Madonna, Swift, Grande, Carpenter, Bruno Mars and Morgan Wallen are nominated for artist of the year. The video of the year field includes Madonna’s “Confessions II – The Film,” Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia,” Carpenter’s “Tears,” Grande’s “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” Mars’ “I Just Might” and Gener8ion’s “Storm Starring Yung Lean.”
It is the first time in nine years that the VMAs will be held on the West Coast. The show was last broadcast from Los Angeles in 2017, according to Variety.
