Netflix confirms Korean family action comedy Two Cops and Five Kids
Netflix says it has started production on Two Cops and Five Kids, a Korean family action comedy built around a detective trying to hold together a household of five children.
According to the streamer’s Aug. 5 announcement, Cha Tae-hyun will play Dong-sik, a detective studying for a promotion exam when his wife, Kyung-ah, leaves for what she says is a trip. Netflix says the character is actually returning to police work on a secret National Intelligence Service assignment.
Uhm Ji-won will play Kyung-ah. The film is their first on-screen project together, Netflix said. The five children are played by Do Young-seo, Kim Na-eun, Jung Han-sol, Sim Ji-an and Kim Ra-hee.
Kim Jong-hyun is directing from a screenplay by Yoon Jin-ha and Kim. TPS Company, Toastor Pictures and Sony Pictures International Productions are producing, with Netflix presenting.
Netflix did not announce a release date. The project joins a growing slate of Korean titles whose premises make room for broad comedy without leaving the stakes entirely at home.
