VIPD Investigates Death of Woman Found in Danish Cemetery on St. Thomas
ST. THOMAS — The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating after a woman was found unresponsive Monday morning in the Historic Danish Cemetery in Hospital Ground, according to the department.
VIPD said a concerned citizen called the 911 Emergency Call Center at about 9:25 a.m. Monday, June 22, to report a female in the cemetery with blood around her body.
Responding law enforcement units found an unresponsive Black female with wounds on her body, police said. Emergency medical technicians at the scene determined she had no vital signs.
Police said next of kin identified the woman as 69-year-old Philomen Winston.
VIPD asked anyone with information to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211, extensions 5555 or 5556, or the Major Crimes Unit at 340-642-8449 on WhatsApp. Tips also can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by calling 911.
