VIPD Investigates Fatal Shooting Near St. Croix Superior Court
ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting reported Sunday afternoon near the Superior Court on St. Croix.
Multiple reports of gunfire were received by the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center at about 2:06 p.m. Aug. 10, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department. Officers arriving at the Superior Court found an unresponsive man in a vehicle at the entrance to the courthouse parking lot, police said.
Emergency Medical Services confirmed that the man had died from his injuries. Police identified him, following notification of next of kin, as 21-year-old Angel Rodriguez III.
The VIPD Criminal Investigation Bureau is treating the case as a homicide. Anyone with information is asked to contact 911, the bureau at 340-778-2211, or Crime Stoppers VI at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
