Suspect in Lorraine Village Shooting in Custody, VIPD Says

ST. CROIX — A suspect wanted in connection with a Lorraine Village shooting that injured two people is in custody, according to the Virgin Islands Police Department.
Police identified the suspect as Janigh Gonsalves, 23. VIPD said Gonsalves was charged with attempted murder, first-degree reckless endangerment, firearms and ammunition offenses, brandishing or using a deadly weapon, and carrying or using a dangerous weapon.
No bail was set under the domestic violence statute, according to VIPD.
The department said the St. Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received a report at 8:48 a.m. June 29 that a man and a woman had been shot multiple times at Lorraine Village.
Both victims were taken by ambulance to Juan F. Luis Hospital and remained in stable condition, police said.
