VIPD: Man Arrested After Bethlehem Village Assault Investigation
ST. CROIX — The Virgin Islands Police Department said Wilfredo Carmona III was arrested following an investigation into an alleged assault and property damage in Bethlehem Village.
According to the VIPD, officers were dispatched to the area about 10:12 p.m. Aug. 8 after a report of an assault. The complainant told officers that Carmona assaulted him inside his residence and damaged property, police said.
Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Bureau determined that Carmona and a female neighbor had gone to the complainant’s apartment during an ongoing dispute, according to the department. Police allege an argument led to an assault, visible injuries and a physical altercation inside the residence.
The VIPD also alleged that a bamboo plant was damaged and a surveillance camera was removed from outside the residence.
A Superior Court judge signed an arrest warrant Aug. 20, police said. Carmona was taken into custody Aug. 21 and transported to the John Bell Adult Correctional Facility pending an Advice of Rights hearing.
