VIPD Issues Traffic and Safety Advisory for 2026 St. John Celebration

ST. JOHN — The Virgin Islands Police Department is advising residents and visitors of traffic, ferry and public safety measures tied to the 2026 St. John Celebration.
According to VIPD, traffic from Mongoose Junction on Route 20 to Northshore will be closed beginning at 8 a.m. and will remain closed until the parade is completed. Parking will be available in the public parking lot at the Gravel Pit.
Travelers taking public ferries to St. John must present current government identification before boarding, VIPD said, citing U.S. Coast Guard maritime requirements. Police said random searches will be conducted and weapons, including firearms, will not be allowed on public ferries except for law enforcement personnel or retired law enforcement.
VIPD also reminded vendors and attendees that alcoholic beverages may not be sold to minors, and that smoking or vaping is not permitted in event booths or behind them.
Police urged attendees to secure vehicles, park in well-lit areas when possible, avoid driving under the influence, walk in groups and remain aware of their surroundings. Parents and guardians are encouraged to place a note with their name, phone number and the child’s name in a child’s pocket in case the child becomes separated during the event.
Law enforcement officers will be assigned to patrol inside and outside celebration events, according to VIPD.
